![]() ![]() If that Bismarck had been the Massachusetts instead with her 406mm guns (like you see at the end), then her shells wouldn’t ricochet. Therefore the Bismarck could only get ricochets off of the hull of my ship – or some minor damage from my superstructure. My armor plates everywhere are 27mm, which is high enough that the 380mm guns of a Bismarck cannot overmatch it. This made my angle towards them above 60 degrees. In this match I kept angling against the enemy Bismarck. The only exception to this is overmatch – if the caliber of the shell is very large compared to the armor plate thickness, then the shell will simply go through it unabated. At 60+ degrees your shells will always ricochet. From 45 to 60 degrees there’s a chance (that increases with the angle) that some of your shells will ricochet. From 0 degrees to 45 degrees (diagonal) your shells will do normal penetration calculations. I don't do much WW2 models but I can dig a little deeper on the colors if need be, just let me know.ĮDIT: FS number for the Light Grey 36440 - so that would be 'Light Gull Grey' in many color ranges. The way angling works is that if the enemy is flat broadside to you they are considered to be at 0 degrees to you. I don't have a FS number at the moment for the Light Grey but Special Hobby color suggestion is probably a good starting point. If I would be doing the model, I would be using the light grey - but that is just my conclusion, I don't have any solid reference on that particular plane. I think starting from -42 came directions to change the bottom color to light blue (~RLM65) - but did not happen over night (only during major overhauls and such) so in -42 it was probably a mix of all different undersurface colors. They were originally either left aluminium or painted light grey (not RLM65). Any idea which would be correct for the aircraft I’m building please? ![]() The underside colour I’ve seen quoted as either the Aluminium lacquer these were delivered in, or an RLM 65 colour. Quick one for anybody who is knowledgeable in this area. ![]()
